Introducing our Creative Team – Alex

We are so lucky to have our fabulous Creative Team, the inner circle to all things Oops a Daisy!

Our Creative Team not only help us spread the word about Oops a Daisy on social media, they are also admin for the “Bullet Journal Squad” Facebook Community AND they run the fantastic Bullet Journal Squad Challenge!

We wanted to take a bit of time to get to know our creative team members, so we created a little survey for each of them to complete so they can tell us all about themselves!

We kick off today with the wonderful Alex or as she is better known on social media, @TheJournalCorner.

A Bit About Me

I’m Alex a mum of 3 from the UK.  I was a geography teacher for 10 years and now work part time as a PA.  I have always had a love of stationery from childhood and in 2017 started my first Bullet Journal.  It included basic lists to help juggle a building project and young children!

During the first lockdown, I discovered the creative aspect of journaling was a fantastic way to unwind after home schooling, while still feeling productive.  I definitely started to panic buy stationery at this point!

I originally started my instagram account to save ideas to try in my own journal, but have found the community an amazingly friendly space.  I love sharing journal ideas and working with brands like the team at Oops a Daisy!

Why I Journal

I have always been a pretty organised person.  As life got busier and there was more ‘adulting’ to be done, the planning became even more necessary.  It does means I am not the most spontaneous character though!

3 Fun Facts About Me

  1. My dog went viral for chasing a wallaby on our walk (in Kent!)
  2. I am a weather geek and an ambition is to go tornado chasing one day!
  3. I chose Newcastle University because I was obsessed with Alan Shearer

What’s In My Kit?

If I had to choose only a few items, they would be:

  • I love a B5 dot grid as my main Bullet Journal.  The extra space suits me as it allows space for larger lettering and decoration.
  • I would be lost without my Oops a Daisy stencils!  They save me so much time and definitely give me confidence to be creative without being a natural ‘artist.’
  • I love using all manner of pens: Fineliners with my stencils, but brush pens for headers and a 0.7mm black pen for writing.
  • My Bullet Journal is all about being creative without drawing things from scratch so I use a lot of stickers, Washi tape, paper and recently more inks and stamps too.

Last but not least – My Favourite Journal Spread

One I include every month is a dashboard page.  This is a summary of all the ‘to-dos’ for the month as well as things I want to watch, birthdays etc.  It works well ahead of weekly pages but if I only had time to create one page for a month it would be that one.
