We’ve all been there, you put off a task that needs to be completed and feel guilty that you should be being more productive. As more time passes we feel stressed that the deadline is creeping towards us, which gives us an even bigger sense of overwhelm that causes further procrastination!
Did You Know?
The term procrastinate was adapted in the 16th century from the Latin word, procrastinatus which means, to put off until tomorrow!
So, why do we procrastinate and how can we break the cycle?

Why do we procrastinate?
There are so many reasons why we might procrastinate. Perhaps we feel overwhelmed by the size of the task (or task list) ahead of us, or maybe we don’t have a clear plan of how to tackle the problem. It could even be that we are scared of failure, or feel that we might not have the skills needed to get the job done.
It’s so much easier to distract ourselves with 10 minutes mindlessly scrolling social media, rather than forging ahead with the job needs to be done, but which may be a lot less enjoyable or requires more brain power (or physical hard work).
Understanding our triggers for procrastination is a great place to start for developing a plan to avoid procrastination and start being productive!
