Jo here, it’s been a while so I really wanted to jump on and give you a personal update of whats going on at Oops a Daisy HQ.
Times for us, as well as many other small businesses, are incredibly challenging. Understandably, in the current financial climate spending money on stationery supplies is a luxury not a priority.
As you may know, we moved into our own business premises in December – perfect timing at the start of a cost of living crisis 😬. This has put a huge amount of pressure on me personally to make sure we can pay the bills. As a result I have let my work/life balance suffer, which is having an effect on my wellbeing in general.
As much as I want to reply to every Facebook comment, request for a stencil design or YouTube demo it just isn’t possible if I also want to sleep! 🤣 For this reason I need to be more considered about the products and launches we are putting our time into and how much I am taking on to make things work.
If you follow Oops a Daisy on social media, you will know that we recently took a long road trip up north to attend StationeryFest in Manchester. 5 hours in a car gave us plenty of time to brain storm, and one of our biggest topics was how to reward our wonderful subscribers for choosing to spend their hard earned money with us every month.
Of course, the number one way of doing this is to continue to strive to innovate and improve on our subscription products to create something that is a joy to receive. We have a few ideas for this too (if you haven’t already then make sure you take our survey here).
You Can’t Please Everyone…
Initial survey results, as always, are incredibly mixed and in some cases completely polarised!
For as many of you who said the stencils in “Pocket Full of Sunshine” were your favourite element, there was equal feedback you would like less decorative and more structural stencils. Half would love for us to include the occasional desk planner, others want to stick to purely journal based items.
What seems to be a hit across the board is the potential to create a quarterly colour scheme which will allow more use from items received.
It is likely that we will continue to move the Big One in a direction where it is more concept led, containing journaling items that are more versatile for long term use, rather than designed to create a stand alone monthly theme. It would still of course revolve around a central topic and colour palette.
We have always included the occasional non journaling item (still stationery), and we will likely continue to do this when it makes sense for the concept of the box.
One piece of interesting feedback given on a few occasions, was that you would like more opportunity to show how to use the contents of the boxes – I have been working really hard on content for social media, our blog and our YouTube channel, so for this one i’m a bit baffled as to what I could do extra (answers on a postcard….)
Thank you to every one who took the time to complete the survey, although we cannot specifically tailor the subscriptions to your individual needs, being able to monitor trends of feedback is super useful.
Introducing Stackable Discounts!
If you’ve stuck with me so far… Thank you! I didn’t intend for this to be such a long personal note 🤣 My main reason for writing todays blog was to fill you in on a little scheme we have come up with to say a BIG thank you to our monthly/quarterly subscribers and VIP members.

Running a small business can be very stressful, (right now more stressful than ever), but it is also incredibly rewarding. I am so thank full to have such an amazing community of likeminded people who are so invested in what we create.
